Around 1.5 million people suffer from corneal blindness, out of which 80% of cases are preventable. But only 10% of eye transplantation demands are met due to lack in availability of corneas. The success of an eye donation depends not only on government and infrastructure but also on the awareness and positive attitude of the general public to organ donation and the cultural background of potential donor.
