Resident doctors of the government-run hospital in New Delhi were allegedly abused by a patient’s relative after her scheduled surgery was postponed at last minute. The senior resident doctor at the hospital said that the surgery of the patient was postponed because she was stable and another patient, who was in serious condition, needed to be operated immediately. The doctor said they counseled the patient but a mob of 20-30 people gathered and abused the resident doctors. The doctors would have been badly beaten if the guards had not intervened.
By the time the police reached the hospital, the mob had already dispersed. Every day, we hear so many of such incidents that everyone of us has lost sensitivity to abuse against doctors. This violence is not going to stop unless there is strict law because of which people will fear to resort to violence. Source: Indian Express
