Pulmonary tuberculosis (PT) screening is done in various places by asking questions related to symptoms like a chronic cough, weight reduction, hemoptysis, loss of appetite and night sweats. The present picture related to PT is explosive. Even recently I have seen a patient whose left lung completely destroyed and treated without taking X-ray chest as a case of bronchial asthma by most of the doctors. There was no history of taking TB treatment also from the patient. CT scan thorax shows evidence of active tuberculosis in the form of tree bud appearance apart from TB sequelae.
Like this case, I am seeing a lot of cases in which without taking X-chest it is difficult to rule out PT. Previously mini X- ray was used some 30 years ago for screening. The same thing is ideal for screening of PT now. So, the govt should take appropriate steps to take the mini X-ray of every one to rule out PT.…
