A replacement of an External Beam Radiation Therapy in Cancer treatment has now dawned in India. Concerned about alarming rate of surging incidences of Cancer in Punjab, senior cancer surgeons at a renowned hospital in Mohali on Friday spoke about the alarming increase in Cancer cases in the region. Understanding the need of the hour to spread awareness about cancer, the hospital also conducted a study of Cancer trends. The study is based on approximately 2000 patients seen and treated by doctors since inception of the hospital in October 2011.

After studying the demographics and qualitative aspects of these cases, various trends of cancer incidence came to light. Doctors shared that the national average for cancer diagnosis is 80 per lakh, the average for Punjab is 90 per lakh population.
