A 60 yrs old patient came today with Wheezing chest, severe Bronchospasm and feeling uncomfortable. History : Unable to find his Poppy Husk, was started tablets Tramadol by some well wisher Doctor-chemist. I thought it practical to nebulise patient with Ipotropium, which is the active component in Poppy Husk. [Though added Levosalbutamol and Bodecort tooin sub therapeutic dose] Patient became completely Normal. Now the bigger question is? 1 Is it justified to PUT A POPPY-HUSK ADDICT ON TRAMADOL ADDICTION ?
2 Will it be proper/Ethical for me, if I put this patient on Ipotropium Rotacaps? So that patient is free from breathing difficulty. Will it, be equal to putting him on other addiction. OR 3 It can be a good tool for De-addiction. because ipotropium will relieve his breath-related symptoms but will have no Systemic Poppy Husk-like kick. Kindly suggest if I should prescribe Rotacap or…
