Ranula is a mucus containing cyst arising from a sublingual gland. It is a mucocele at the floor of oral cavity. Ranulae present as a swelling at floor of mouth consisting of collected mucin from a ruptured salivary gland due to some local trauma.

It is brightly transilluminant. Excision is simple and easy, but complete excision of cyst wall is essential.
