Due to the recent expansion of multidrug resistant pathogens, the regulatory bodies like WHO, IDSA, and the UK Government in 2015 have declared antimicrobial resistance as one of the major problems affecting human health and health economy. Currently, a handful of new antibiotics have been launched targeting some of the most problematic Gram-negative pathogens: Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) - producing Enterobacteriaceae and multi-drug-resistant (MDR) P. aeruginosa . It is important to use these precious additions judiciously to ensure their longevity in our antimicrobial armamentarium.
