The Gujarat government has decided to re-appoint the doctors after their retirement, for three more years on the basis of pay minus pension formula. The Deputy CM stated that “ At present, doctors retire at the age of 62 and the reappointment will be on the formula of pay (at the time of retirement) minus pension ”. The state government has also declared that during the re-appointment period, doctors will not be allowed for increased pension, bonus or leave encashment.
They need to shift their residences at the place of re-appointment and if a doctor dies during the re-appointment period, his/her family members will not be liable for any special benefits. The Deputy CM also mentioned that, this decision would not affect the promotions of other doctors and these doctors would be relieved of, from their duties if the regular doctor is available.
