A 40-year-old female who had undergone modified radical mastectomy 5 years back. A Middle class woman with education of std Xth, in emotional distress with a sense of disconnection from her body and a diminished sense of feminity. She described her battle with depression, a loss of self-esteem and personal problems because of mastectomy. She opted for breast reconstruction using pedicled TRAM flap after discussing the various options.
Surgical procedure consists of taking the lower abdomen skin tissue along with the supplying blood vessel and reconstructing the breast. The TRAM flap had an advantage of giving the tummy a tucked look as well.
