Recurrent varicose veins after surgical treatment are usually common and often seen in patients with a history of deep vein thrombosis and post-thrombotic syndrome. Saphenofemoral junction (SFJ) and great saphenous vein (GSV) are the most commonly affected sites where repeated varicosities are observed. Interventions include surgical disconnections of the vascularities and multiple phlebotomies. Reinterventions are associated with a higher rate of re-recurrence and mortality.
Hence, it is imperative to understand recurrent varicose veins.
