A book has been written by Carolyn Dean titled " The Magnesium Miracle", in which she states that due to wrong agricultural practices the magnesium content of soil in which our crops are grown has depleted and hence even the vegetables grown on such soils are very poor in magnesium content. She has ascribed magnesium deficiency as being the most important reason for conditions such as depression, anxiety, heart rhythm abnormalities, hypersensitivity to noises, taste and sounds, diabetes, bad lipid profile etc. etc. The problem here is we don't have any reliable easily available test to detect magnesium deficiency because serum magnesium represents just 1% of total body magnesium and magnesium exerts its action intracellularly.

It's very unreliable test according to this book. The best test is Exatest and in case, this is not available. Second best is intra-RBC magnesium. But where are…
