A 47-year-old nonhypertensive and nondiabetic lady hailing from upper-middle SES from a metropoliton city presented with repeated episodes of feeling like crying and with feelings of emptiness feeling inside, losing interest in day to day activities , difficulty falling asleepfor last 4 days. She otherwise does not complain of any pervasive and persistent low mood, hopelessness, worthlessness or helplessness. There are no death thoughts in her nor there has been any overt lethargy and fatiguability in her. Further history revealed that 4 days ago her elder daughter has been transfered to a different city for her job.
Her daughter was with her family allthrough her childhood till date until the recent need to shift to a diff place. The lady reported repeated yearning to be with her daughter. Her adjustments with her husband and her younger daughter is good. Mental status examination…
