A three years old girl child is having recurrent attacks of dry cough for the last about one year. It started with cough and fever for which one of the pediatrician hospitalized her for 4-5 days leading to recovery but dry cough has persisted for months together. She was prescribed Multiple IV Antibiotics, Antipyretics, Bronchodilators , Nebulizer , Steroids, Antihistamines and make out a course of Immuno-regulators while she was hospitalized there. Cough is apparently noticed more after running or playing in the Park. Do we level this as naso - branchial Allergy or Childhood Asthma ?
What's the criteria for leveling a child as Asthmatic ? Will these symptoms reduce or perish with age ? What strategy needs to be adopted at this stage? Change of place, more tests for allergens or wait and watch.The coughing is manageable with antihistamines alone. What is the probable Diagnosis ?
