Being a family Physician,I am often confronted with situations where I have to give IM injections. As is well known,it is a common practice to give it in the Gluteal region or Deltoid.But many lady patients insist on taking injections in the arm.
Since the deltoid region is inaccessible due to clothing,I am forced to give it in the triceps.If the muscle bulk is good,I have found it is relatively painless and well accepted by the patient.I have also been suggested by local Medical specialists that though not mentioned anywhere,One can go ahead with it.I had two patients complain of tingling numbness in the forearm and hand which fortunately was self limiting and passed off.Would like to know from this enlighted audience the risk of permanent or reversible radial nerve palsy with this technique and is the technique valid at all?.In thin individuals,its almost impossible to administer as…
