The Supreme Court, in a recent hearing, stated that the vacant PG seats of the unaided private medical colleges can be filled up according to the All-India National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) merit list. The bench of justice stated this while the hearing of Uttar Pradesh matter in which the MCI stated that nearly 41.95% of PG medical seats for the 2018-2019 academic year in unaided private medical colleges in the state were vacant. Additional Solicitor General (ASG) also suggested to the bench that a similar allowance can be followed in other states, if they so desire, while ensuring that they strictly adhere to the cut-off date of May 31, 2018.
