Head and neck cancer is the most common cancer in India. One of the common forms of treatment includes chemo-radiation. Schedule and dose of chemotherapy have not been very well defined especially the schedule and dose of cisplatin, which is the most effective treatment. At TATA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, we started this study to answer this question. This is the first large study to answer this question.
We concluded that high dose 3 weekly cisplatin dose is better than weekly low dose cisplatin for these patients. Purpose: Chemoradiation with cisplatin 100 mg/m 2 given once every 3 weeks is the standard of care in locally advanced head and neck squamous cell cancer (LAHNSCC).
