UAE Scientists from the Mohammad Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences has conducted the first whole genome sequencing, who are the first to read an entire genome in the UAE. The sequence of an Emirati boy with autism spectrum disorder was conducted during the sequencing process. The sequencing was carried out as part of collaborative research with the Autism Programme at Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital (AJCH) in Dubai Healthcare City.

Some of the main objectives of this testing were to get an accurate diagnosis, predict recurrence rates within the family and screen for other conditions.
