Senile retinoschisis (SR) is an acquired, gradual splitting of the retina into 2 distinct layers. Not much is known about this condition because of relatively lower diagnosis. This article will briefly explain the pathophysiology and treatment for senile retinoschisis. There are two types of retinoschisis i.e senile and juvenile. Senile retinoschisis is caused by the preexisting peripheral cystoid degeneration.
