Recently in Delhi a physician was penalized for treating a myocardial infarction patient who unfortunately died.The reason for the punishment was his inability to ref this patient to DM Catdiologist. I a small town physician is confused and scared to entertain AMI patients after this incidence.
The nearest cardiologist is about 150 km from my place.By refusing AMI patient we may invite wrath of the pt relatives and cause ugly situation.AMI patient can die in best of the hospitals with best of expertise.What should be the policy?
