The fishhook technique is an efficient and low-cost technique used for performing high volume cataract surgery and plays an important role in reducing cataract blindness. Its specialty is the extraction of the nucleus with a bent 30-G needle (Fishhook) out of the capsular bag and the self-sealing tunnel. All sizes of nuclei can be extracted. The fishhook technique has a short learning curve, a low complication rate and provides an excellent immediate visual outcome. This video presents usage of fishhook technique with the implantation of PMMA IOL .
The standard procedure of surgery and implantation is shown with the specifics of the fishhook process concluding with intracameral antibiotics.
