Rising temperatures across Maharashtra have begun to impact public health, with 15 reported cases of heatstroke between March 1 and April 13, raising concern among both residents and healthcare professionals. According to state health department data, Ratnagiri recorded the highest number of cases (six), followed by Palghar (two), while Pune, Gadchiroli, Jalgaon, Jalna, Nandurbar, Nashik, and Raigad each reported one case. No deaths directly linked to heatstroke have been confirmed so far.

However, during the same period, 89 cardiovascular-related deaths were reported. In comparison, the state saw a higher spike last year, with 34 heatstroke cases recorded in just the first 10 days of April 2025. Despite relatively fewer confirmed cases this year, the broader impact of extreme heat is evident around 2.7 lakh people across Maharashtra have sought treatment for heat-related symptoms.โ€ฆ
