A newborn with a critical congenital anomaly was successfully managed at SSG Hospital in Vadodara, highlighting the impact of timely referral and coordinated neonatal care. The male infant, weighing 2.6 kg, was born to a 24-year-old mother in Panchmahal district and was diagnosed soon after birth with tracheoesophageal fistula. Given the high risk of aspiration, he was transferred to the NICU at SSG Hospital within 11 hours. After multidisciplinary evaluation, the team opted for definitive repair on the second day of life.

The procedure involved ligation of the fistulous connection and restoration of esophageal continuity. This remains technically demanding in neonates, particularly in those with low birth weight, due to the increased risk of infection and perioperative complications. The procedure and subsequent postoperative management were performed under the leadership of Dr.โ€ฆ
