A 43-year-old man with hypertension presented with sudden painless loss of vision in his left eye. Examination A relative afferent papillary defect was noted. Intraocular pressure was at the upper limit of the normal range, at 20 mmHg bilaterally. Funduscopic examination indicated optic-nerve cupping of the right eye (1 st image, arrow).
Whereas hyperaemia, swelling of the optic nerve (2 nd image), macular edema, and diffuse intraretinal hemorrages, and dilated –tortuous retinal veins were observed in the left eye.
