In surgery, the preoperative handover of the surgical trauma patients must be as efficient as possible. Ineffective handover procedures increase the work load on the healthcare providers and affect patient safety. This study conducted by Canadian Orthopaedic Association (COA) sought to determine vital clinical information that must be transferred between patient care teams for developing a standardized handover checklist. This article focuses on handover checklist developed by experts from orthopedic surgery which is manageable and simple to use.
