It is a well know fact in Nephrology, whenever there is a contracted kidney in the USG abdomen noted, it is an early form of CRF if the RFT is moderately elevated. So, the patient needs to be monitored for worsening of CRF and steps to be taken accordingly. But recently I have come across two cases which are peculiar in the presentation. A case of female aged 45 years assessed for CAHD. Incidentally, the patient had both contracted kidney and elevated RFT which is urea 62 and creatinine 3.2.
The patient underwent CAG four months ago and at that time the creatinine was 3.8. No urea result available. How she has undergone with this RFT, CAG is not known. When she came after four months for consultation, the RFT is not much disturbed and repeat USG abdomen showing the same findings.No specific complaints related to renal parameters. The patient is treated for CAHD and not for RFT…
