The prevalence of diabetes is exponentially increasing in adults and children, affecting more than 29 million people. Diabetes mellitus has a poor prognosis and daunting effects in children, including growth retardation, pubertal delay, and chronic complications. Also, patient with diabetes has psycho-social issues, including increased levels of anxiety, distress, guilt, and a sense of disconnect. Therefore, timely consultation, checking for pubertal onset, testing growth falters, having metabolic control, ensuring dietary calcium, protein balance, and lifestyle modifications are required for effective prevention and management in the pediatric population.
