Colorectal cancer (CRC) or bowel cancer is one of the common forms of cancer prevalent worldwide. This type of cancer can remain in benign form for a long-duration without even exhibiting the symptoms. Colorectal cancer does not exhibit any characteristic symptoms and thus may remain unnoticed for years.

It starts with an uncontrolled growth of cells in the mucous lining of the large intestine. The overgrown cells are referred to as colorectal polyps. Not all the polyps are cancerous and if develops into cancer, it takes many years for the transformation.
