Several misconceptions about leprosy exist in society, especially in developing countries. For a very long time, leprosy has been a societal stigma and the affected patients continue to face discrimination, humiliation and are even denied their basic rights to freedom and dignity. Therefore, it is an obligation on the part of doctors and all other healthcare providers that they spread awareness, eradicate myths, and educate the public about leprosy, to improve health care delivery to the affected population.
