Active surveillance of low-risk papillary thyroid cancer is now an accepted alternative to immediate surgery, but worldwide experience with this approach is limited. Moreover, the kinetics of PTC tumor growth under active surveillance have not been well defined till date. This article outlines research findings that describe the kinetics of tumor growth during active surveillance.
Study Design: The study mainly included active surveillance of the cumulative incidence, rate, and magnitude of the change in tumor diameter or volume, as well as associations with patient and tumor characteristics. Research Findings: Of the 291 patients, 219 (75.3%) were women with mean (SD) age of 52 (15) years.
