Thyroid disorders can significantly affect fertility because thyroid hormones help regulate the reproductive system. When the thyroid is underactive or overactive, it disrupts the hormonal balance needed for conception. In women, this imbalance may lead to irregular menstrual cycles, problems with ovulation, and an increased risk of miscarriage. In men, thyroid issues can reduce sperm count, motility, and overall reproductive function. These effects make it harder for couples to conceive. However, thyroid disorders are a common but treatable cause of infertility.

With proper diagnosis and management, fertility often improves noticeably.
