Childbirth is one such trending topic on social media platforms where women divulge their stories with no-bar approach to detail. While the narrative of the birth process may provide a feeling of comfort and support among expecting mothers, some experts suggest that they may be creating fear among pregnant women and putting some people off childbirth altogether.
According to a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Hull, “horror stories” about birth shared online are one of the potential triggers of tocophobia.
