Gastric cancer, a highly fatal malignancy, is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide contributing to nearly 7% of all cancers . Management of advanced gastric cancer remains a challenge for clinicians as patients usually present with the advanced disease. Although surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy are the mainstay treatment options, they are associated with poor disease control resulting in high mortality rates, especially in advanced gastric cancer. Nevertheless, the prognosis and quality of life in advanced gastric cancer can be improved with the standardization and individualization of management options .
