Gastric cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer related-mortalities across the world. This high case-fatality rate is due to the presentation of non-specific symptoms at the early stages. Although surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy are considered as the mainstay of the treatment, targeted therapies using monoclonal antibodies are equally important. It is now evident that blocking specific targets like vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR-2) significantly improves the prognostic outcomes in gastric cancer patients. In short, many innovative treatments are being tested in clinical trials that will eventually benefit the patients.
