I happened to come across a literature when there was a discussion with Skin test screening for tuberculosis. It was mentioned that sometimes skin test isn’t perfect if the patient is recently vaccinated with BCG vaccine, the tests show negative results even when the patient is affected with tuberculosis disease. It was also mentioned that population with The TB skin test isn't perfect. Sometimes, it suggests that people have TB when they really don't. It can also indicate that people don't have TB when they really do.

It was also mentioned that population with HIV positive also show negative results to skin tests for TB for a reason the immune system haven’t yet reacted to bacteria. I would like to know if the above literature stands true or not. If true how often we prefer going for skin test screening for TB over blood samples, chest X-rays. I haven’t come across it yet.
