With regard to the UAE Vision 2021 National Agenda, experts in the Middle East are highlighting the need for advanced research in genetic diseases to provide targeted gene therapies for cancers. The vision aims at reducing cancer-related deaths in the country. As per 2017 WHO data, cancer-related deaths in UAE are estimated to be about 25.6 deaths per 100,000 population. Such high death rates were a result of the unavailability of research facilities to provide individualized therapy to cancer patients.
