Research conducted by Public Health England (PHE) found that patients infected three weeks after receiving their first COVID-19 vaccine dose were 38-49% less likely to pass the virus on to family members than those who were unvaccinated . The study’s collected data from over 57,000 contacts in 24,000 households in which there was a lab-confirmed case that had received one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, compared with nearly one million contacts of unvaccinated patients. Previous studies have also shown that being vaccinated reduces the risk of developing symptomatic COVID-19 infection by up to 65%, four weeks after one dose.

As households are deemed "high-risk" settings for transmission, this result can be practically applicable to community transmission from public places. Source: Health World
