Cryptorchidism or undescended testis is a urogenital anomaly of the newborn that occurs due to abnormal migration of the embryonic testes. It is a common genital disorder identified in newborns. Treatment of undescended testes is mainly aimed at reducing the incidence of complications and preventing the development of testicular cancer. Cryptorchidism is defined as unilateral or bilateral absence of testes at the normal position in the scrotum.
