In Pune, NABH accredited hospitals appoint BAMS doctors as clinical assistant of Neurologist, Nephrologist, Oncophysician, Oncosurgery etc. As no hospital has full-time consultant, these doctors only take care of patients in absence of consultant like OPD consultation, ICU management, day care management, ICU procedures like central line/ICD placement, spinal fluid examination etc. In periphery practice, many BAMS doctors set up operation theatres and carry out all type of surgeries with the help of on-call surgeons and they only take care post-operatively. BAMS MS doctors carry out surgeries for malignancy.
We all know incidents like MBBS MD doctors being sued for cardiology consultation. I would like to know what is the limitation of BAMS doctors? Upto what extent they can practise allopathy?
