Dear doctors, The fate of Indian diploma holders post MBBS is horrible, they study for two years in medical colleges attend the common entrance tests but their contribution to medical colleges and government services is little. They are not eligible for departmental promotions in teaching hospitals and government sectors, and most of the diploma holders find positions purely in private practice and live as second class citizens. Why not we convert them as masters degree MD, MS in their respective subjects after thesis and single paper with additional clinical training work?

In 1950 soon after independence, in India different kind of medical degrees were existing like GCIM, LCIM etc. I am not sure exactly, but govt. took initiate and gave them an additional 2 yrs training with exam, and awarded them MBBS degree with MCI's approval, its a fact and I myself have personally seen those…
