Use of Combined Deltopectoral and Pectoralis Major Myocutaneous Flap for Advanced Head and Neck Cancers

The ideal flap for reconstructing an oral cavity defect in case of oral malignancies is a free flap. However, a cheaper and reliable alternative is a combined deltopectoral (DP) and pectoralis major myocutaneous (PMMC) flap, modified by incorporating the DP flap in the neck. It provides excellent coverage while retaining the speech and swallowing functions of the patient and is beneficial for those with poor socioeconomic status.
