The US FDA has approved desmopressin acetate oral solution for the treatment of central diabetes insipidus, to be used as antidiuretic replacement therapy in adults and pediatric patients. Clinical evidence The approval is supported by clinical studies evaluating desmopressin acetate tablets in patients with diabetes insipidus.
In these studies, treatment produced optimal antidiuretic activity, with the therapeutic effect lasting up to eight hours following administration.
