The US FDA has approved the first rapid-acting insulin aspart-szjj biosimilar to improve glycemic control in adult and pediatric patients with diabetes mellitus. This marks the third insulin biosimilar product approved by the FDA. The insulin aspart biosimilar helps reduce mealtime blood sugar spikes, improving overall blood sugar control in diabetes patients.
Clinical evidence In clinical trials involving 596 type 1 diabetes (T1D) adult patients, 187 pediatric T1D patients, and 91 adult T2D patients, insulin aspart significantly reduced HbA1C levels in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes patients, comparable to regular human insulin.
