Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) is a minimally invasive thoracic surgical method that uses a fiberoptic thoracoscope attached with a high-definition video camera at one end. VATS is used to perform surgery on the lungs, esophagus, pleura, and mediastinum through a small chest cavity. VATS is highly preferred for diagnostic and therapeutic surgeries, especially for esophageal and lung cancers. It helps surgeons to perform accurate surgery and provides higher survival rates in cancer patients than invasive thoracotomy surgeries. Want to know more about esophagectomy using 3D VATS?
