Venotomy basically means venous puncture which varies from venous injections (self-taken by Drug addicts) used by medical staff for iv fluid lines, venous sections (old), venous puncture (for canalisation for CVP cannula) and arteriovenous fistula formation (for traumatic or iatrogenic for dialysis). In developed or developing countries, Venotomy is considered as a surgical procedure, used for complications during surgery especially in countries who have insurance providers or quite developed. We get experience in this technique mostly by our staff nurses in our colleges or emergency, medical and Surgical wards.
