A 23 years old male boy was diagnosed as a case of Autoimmune Hepatitis. Vitamin D3 estimation showed deficiency. He was prescribed regimen of Deflazacort 30 mgs and Azathioprine 50 mgs a day for 15 days initially with other required medication but no supplementary Vitamin D3 was advised. My query:- Whether Vitamin D supplementation is indicated in this patient or not?

If so what Vitamin D3 analogue should be used? Or, if no supplementation is given what could be the harm? Please share.
