Kolkata’s corporate Hospital has been fined Rs30 lakh by the newly formed West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission over the death of a child. The commission ordered Corporate Hospitals to pay Rs10 lakh within a month, and the balance within two months. The newly formed West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission (WBCERC) on Friday imposed a fine of Rs30 lakh on Corporate Hospital and some of its doctors guilty of medical negligence in a case involving the death of a four-month old girl.
“Corporate Hospital is guilty of mismanagement and misrepresentation of facts and deficiency in services,” the Commission said in its order and awarded a compensation of Rs30 lakh to the family of child who died in April.
