It is very common or it is mandatory to have a departmental museum in medical colleges. Museum provide excellent study material for UG and PG students there is no doubt about it (that's why it is a mandate). It is common to see museums in anatomy, pathology, forensic medicine, community medicine departments. What are the ethical and legal concerns in getting wet specimens (especially of human and animals) for public display?

Is there a legal sanction to take organs from dead or live individuals (forensic, non-forensic cases, claimed and unclaimed bodies etc), consent from the relatives etc to display such specimens. Is it ethical to steal or procure and demonstrate in formalin-filled jars? When we have excellent technology to make artificial models and take high-quality pictures and videos, is it necessary to display in such a fashion? As far as I know there is the anatomy act, 1949…
