This apparently healthy female of 45 years with asthma and long term steroid + bronchodilator inhalation & infrequent mod exacerbations was suffering from right sided single large abscess for last 3 yrs. The invest for TB then and now is -ve.sputum grew only staph aureus 3 times till now and was treated by long term iv and oral antistap antibiotics .even she took linezolid for a month or so 3 yrs back and the pus in abscess completely resolved.was then kept on the single daily dose of linezolid for several months and did well.after discontinuing she again developed staphylococcus aureus pus in the persisting lung cavity so the same course had to be repeated within 1 year.
After a yr or more a few days back she presented in the same way with mod asthma exacerbation but the CXR revealed 2 abscess site on rt side.lower lobe the previous site and other smaller one in upper lobe.left sided…
