Consumer forum turned down the case filed for compensation of Rs 50 lacs for death due to negligence on account of the illegible handwriting of a doctor which became a cause of supplying wrong medicines contrary to prescribed medicines resulting in the death of a patient. In conclusion, forum found that this case is not suitable to be judged in consumer forum as the illegible handwriting of a doctor is not negligence. Though, MCI directed that prescription should be legible.
