Case Presentation A 72-year-old woman with a complex medical history presented to the emergency department with respiratory symptoms. Her recent medical history was significant for diverticulectomy and cricopharyngeal myotomy.
The patient also reported chronic use of an over-the-counter benzocaine-containing oral gel for approximately one year to relieve oral discomfort related to dental retainers.
